When peace and tranquility come to reign in our hearts, when the light of our understanding illuminates further and further heretofore inaccessible aspects of our self, we come to know our own selves and through this effort of self-knowledge or self-awareness, accede to a knowledge and understanding of God. The streaming, incandescent Light of the Divine becomes the foundation of our own consciousness. It penetrates into the depths of our essence, endowing us with the mystical experience of Receiving The Light. And this selfsame experience of Receiving The Light, the incandescent Light of the Divine, that courses through the reflection of our consciousness, gradually grows in density, crystallizes: and thus, within us, out of the Great Void, a radiant image arises. When the Golden Being becomes coherent to our awareness. Who might it be, but Buddha? For Buddha is the golden symbol of the Great Enlightenment.
The dynamic mandalas of the Golden Buddha are mandalas that reflect the nature of Light. Buddha is that One whose spiritual body self-manifests as the source and principal point of departure for the essence of Light as a phenomenon capable of entering into the consciousness of any living being [in the same way that the physical light of day, or the force of water, are fundamentally unstoppable in any absolute sense: they go where they will and where they must, so that even rock and wall yield to them]. Just throw open the portals of your heart, and an ocean of true and comprehensive Buddha Knowledge springs forth, having as its fountainhead the awareness and thoughts of each one of us. Through illumination and enlightenment, our consciousness becomes Buddha – or, to put it more precisely, our consciousness, our reason, our awareness, our understanding is Buddha. The dynamic mandalas of the Golden Buddha operate in a manner similar to that of reflections in a mirror, or looking-glass, whereby we can access a reflection of our own proper, enlightened essence. By giving form and perceptual utterance to your self-integration of the wholly sacred and most perfectly illuminated Buddha essence, receive his image, with your eyes open, or your eyes closed. Gaze upon him, beholding living, flowing, shimmering gold.

 | | | | When your spiritual eye clears and you are able to see and discern fully, with eyes closed, the figure of Buddha seated in the lotus pose – and let all that you see be every bit as clear to you as the palms of your own hands – imagine yourself then, as you yourself appear in the world of Perfect rapture, as you sit there, your legs crossed, upon the lotus flower. Then imagine, how this flower closes upon you and over you, and then opens and unfolds again. Once it has reopened, your body is illuminated by light rays of myriad colors, and your eyes are open to perceive Buddhas and Boddhisatvas filling the heavens. You shall hear the rushing sounds of waters and of trees, birdsong and the voices of many Buddhas. Overflowing with bliss, you shall say: “Never have I seen such a wonder…”
In order for your frame of mind to deepen as you wish it to, practice reflecting upon your own self in the center of the Golden Buddha mandala, which them reorganizes itself, becoming infinite space. Give birth within you to an even more exalted state of majesty and Divine pride. You discern yourself without visualizing your own body, but rather attuning yourself to your own inner harmonic, to the divine feeling of being yourself and in yourself, and then you feel this perception of your own self expand, grow, as if you are not a small body – as if you are expanding to fill the entire space of your room, your city, ultimately the entire Universe, imagining yourself to be as vast and enlarged, as the limits of your imagination will allow, so that it seems as if the very pores of your skin radiate stars, planets and galaxies. Do not stress yourself, do not invent, do not visualize some incomprehensible mental pictures or constructions: simply feel yourself be.
Tibetan yogi can clearly visualize an immense mandala within the compass of a minute God… On the one hand, such visualization enables the power and agility of the mind to increase; on the other, it can lead the subject to a state of enlightenment. Nirvana, Samadhi (as understood in the East) – rapture or ecstasy (as understood in the West) – correspond to the blissful state which accompanies the blossoming of the ascent of consciousness. At the earliest stages, visualization is primarily an exercise for the training of the mind and is highly limited by the ‘latching on’ habits of the mind of the meditating subject. Advanced visualization might very well approach the level of higher consciousnesss This is the most complete and complex of all the meditative practices.
You feel your entire body becoming charged and saturated with strength; your pose becomes more stable; it becomes easy for you to sit; your energy flows unimpeded – your fragile carnal body feels strong and sturdy, becoming a body of red gold.
That which causes discomfort or displeasure to others does not darken your mood. Instead, you acquire the distinct astonishing impression, that this specific point in space, where you are seated in meditation, this city, this country, this planet earth is one great big magnificent world of Light, beauty and clarity.
Your soul, as if freshly bathed, having experienced the state of serenity, feels great joy. And this attests to the fact that the principle of Light is in harmony with your entire body.
It is really much simpler. Complexity is merely simplicity described in greater detail. Even when certain complicated explanations arise, it is sufficient to understand the essence of the practice: it consists of reflection, as a result of which you are brought into an exalted state: it permeates you completely, your attitude to all that surrounds you, and you remain within that state for increasingly prolonged periods of time.
When the period of practice reaches its conclusion, do not forget these feelings – continue to perceive this world as if you are still there, within the very center of the Golden Buddha mandala: look upon the entire world as such a mandala, and you as the divinity within it. When you maintain this practice, your purest insights, which lead in turn to Pure Sight, are born.

 | | The Mystery of Transcendence | |
| | | Let go of everything… Let it all out… Allow everything to disentangle itself within you… Release it from captivity, give it the freedom it seeks – and it shall turn out to be a path that you can follow. Allow the illusion of your constant perambulation, your busy-ness, to dissipate… You journey forth in serenity… You journey without even leaving home… Reflecting upon the movement of the mandala on the screen, you remain tranquil… You are making a pilgrimage to the shrine of inner quiet… You are purging your lives… Straighten your back… push your shoulders back… position your legs and the wrists of your arms in the Buddha pose… let go of your tension… tilt your neck ever so slightly, so that your chin is inclined a touch towards your bosom… Breathe calmly and deeply… Unfocus your eyes… Begin to gaze upon the center of the mandala, gradually releasing your control over your gaze, and allowing it to lead you as it will into the inner space of the mandala… Do not think about the past… Do not think about the future… Do not think about that, which is the subject of your meditation… Do not allow yourself to think that the Void is a blankness, a nothing. The Void is not nothing, it is rather the Law of Being…The way out lies through the journey into yourself…. During meditation, the mandala becomes the force field of Buddha, part of whom you are. By focusing your attention on the Buddha image, with all its emblems of his spiritual perfection, in his golden, radiant, light-imparting form, your consciousness shall be led forward onto a plane of tranquil contemplation. Buddha is the one whose spiritual body constitutes an essential governing principle of the natural world, and therefore he can enter into the consciousness of any living being. When you have received Buddha into your consciousness, it begins in fact to possess the signs of perfection that Buddha has imparted through his presence. The concentration of the mind on the physical form of the Buddha enables his mind to be perceived. The symbol of Buddha’s mind is expressed in a point, at the center of the mandala. As you journey towards this center and progress towards it, you draw nearer to ‘the center of the world.’ Having entered the mandala, you find yourself in a sacred space, outside Time. Divine beings have already descended into the vessels and symbols…They emerge through the gateway of your heart, fill the cosmos with their presence, and then return… You generate an endless process of world creation, giving rise to a vast succession of realities that are then destroyed, broken down, and replaced by others… You enter into the rhythms of great Time… You enact the great mystery of Transcendence.

It is not uncommon to refer to God as The Light, and this is done not only in comparison, or by a kind of analogy, to the physical light of the material world. Divine Light is neither metaphor, nor allegory, but merely the explicit Truth, a Reality that each individual is capable of comprehending in direct proportion to the degree of motivation, or desire to attain. It can be said of those who practice the Golden Buddha meditation: they have awakened, and have gained free entry to the great and wondrous realms of the Buddhas. The Golden Buddha meditation transforms consciousness, renewing it by re-imparting unto it freshness and wholeness in the perceptual experience of the world and of life itself, in concert with the laws of The Light. Those who practice this meditation compare the state of the Golden Buddha with the state of child when every moment lived is informed with the mastery of something new, something evocative of rapture and delight. |
